I’ve bought three hard bound copies from Amazon so far – one for me, one for my brother and one for a friend. I can think of at least two more copies I’ll get in the near future. This is an absolutely fascinating book for any age (but most appreciated, I think, by those who are somewhat computer literate).

I have no stake in the outcome, as I am just a “non-working” co-op member. It is disappointing that the governing board and the membership at large, just can’t see the forest for the trees! While there is a lot “right” about the Co-op, its pricing is out of whack. Putting aside the “organic, free range, bio diverse, gf tomatoes” and the like, the Co-op’s pricing on regional and national brands is akin to a bodega. ( quick examples are Polar seltzer, bilinski sausage, Chiobani yogurt, Food Should Taste Good chips) . Even with the working member discount, these type items are still priced at what would be retail at Hannaford or PC. –so much for a membership discount.
Surely, the Board could have embraced the working co-op member, and adjusted their discount or otherwise accommodated the need for members to work…perhaps as volunteers without any discount. Curious how they hide behind the Min Wage law argument without having a legal opinion from the Dept of Labor on that subject. At first glance, it appears that volunteers at a not for profit are exempt from the minimum wage. Are co-op members exempt from min wage laws as “owners”?
And the decision-making, fraught with “sensitivity” and “transparency” that slips into political correctness, seems contrived–this decision appears to have been made, and the meetings were about complying with the By-laws.
